Statement on the war in Ukraine
Russia has attacked Ukraine. This is an assault on a sovereign, democratic country for which there is no justification. This war is a European catastrophe and an attack on the fundamental democratic values of freedom, the inviolability of borders and the renunciation of force.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine who are directly exposed to this brutal attack, both within the country and whilst they try to flee. We also express our solidarity with the demonstrators in Russia who are standing up for peace in the most adverse conditions.
In view of these developments we have halted our involvement in projects in Russia, even though this means also halting the close collaboration with our partners in the country. We continue to hope for peace in Ukraine and for the democratic rehabilitation of Russia.
